About APRIL

The Australasian Pork Research Institute Ltd. (APRIL) is an independent, member-based organisation that seeks to benefit the Australasian Pork Industry by investing in research and development, education and training, and commercialisation activities focused on priorities and deliverables that ensure the sustainability of Australasian pork production, and generates optimal returns for the industry.

Historically, the Australasian Pork Research Institute Ltd. operated the highly successful Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for an Internationally Competitive Pork Industry from July 2005 to June 2011. APRIL was succeeded by the CRC for High Integrity Australian Pork (Pork CRC Ltd.), which completed its objectives on 30th June 2019, and APRIL was retained as an operational research entity when the CRC for High Integrity Australian Pork concluded. Full details of the research and education and training activities undertaken by the CRC for High Integrity Australian Pork can be found at porkcrc.com.au.

Research Summaries describing all projects supported in the two Pork Cooperative Research Centre programs, from 2005-2011 and from 2011-2019, have been prepared and can be downloaded here (2005-2011) and here (2011-2019). These booklets provide an excellent resource of the research projects conducted, the key findings, and the major applications to Industry achieved over the 14-year duration of the Pork CRC programs. It is recommended that anyone considering an application to any of APRIL’s research funding application schemes become familiar with previous research conducted during the Pork CRC programs.

Full details of the research and education and training activities undertaken by the CRC for High Integrity Australian Pork can be found at porkcrc.com.au.
